Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company named "One of the Best Places to Work"

SANTA FE, N.M – December 18, 2006 – Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company (SFNTC), which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2007, has been named one of the best places to work in New Mexico.

The company, which makes Natural American Spirit, was the only Santa Fe-based company and the only New Mexico manufacturing company to be named to the list.

“We’re honored by this recognition,” said Rick Sanders, SFNTC’s chief executive officer.  “This is a reflection of our strong belief that the quality of our products and the commitment and spirit of our people are the core of our success in the marketplace.”

A total of 72 companies participated in the new contest sponsored by the New Mexico Business Weekly, and winners in each of three categories – small, medium and large companies – were honored today at an Albuquerque awards breakfast.

The selection process was based on employee responses to 38 attributes known to drive employee engagement.  Employees in each organization were asked in surveys conducted by an outside third party a series of questions in 10 categories.  Criteria included team effectiveness, retention risk, alignment with goals, trust with co-workers, individual contribution, manager effectiveness, trust in senior leaders, feeling valued, work engagement and people practices.

ECO TIPS

File documents digitally rather than printing them out. Creating Portable Document Files (PDFs) of online bills, contracts, and receipts and storing them on your computer saves you paper and printer ink, and makes keeping track of things simpler.

HELPING THE RIVER

SFNTC adopted in 2007 a stretch of the Santa Fe River, which was named the “Most Endangered River” in the country in 2007 by American Rivers. We made a three-year, $150,000 commitment to the rehabilitation efforts.
