Sparks is located in the Truckee meadows of northern Nevada, close to Reno. Many see the distinction between Sparks and Reno as merely geographical and view the two cities as one community.
The city is in a high desert climate at an elevation of nearly 4,500 feet with four full seasons and sunshine almost 80% of the year. Most widely known as the premiere special events venue for all of northern Nevada, attractions on their Victorian Square brings hundreds of thousands of visitors.
The city boasts many annual events such as Hometown Farmers Market, Hot August Nights, Nugget Best in the West Rib Cook-off and Hometowne Christmas. It is also only a little more than an hour’s drive to the scenic Lake Tahoe.
Sparks Marina is also a major regional destination with 80 acres of water surrounded by swimming, boating, fishing, scuba diving and picnicking facilities, with breathtaking views of the nearby mountains. The Marina hosts various local events including Arts in Bloom, Pro Wakeboard Tour, and the Sparks Turkey Trot.
