Each year, the company celebrates Earth Day by serving employees an organic meal made, as much as possible, from locally produced ingredients. Furthering our commitment to sustainability, in 2011 the people of SFNTC created a garden that is free of chemical fertilizers and pesticides — maintained according to organic growing standards — for Santa Fe employees. The project was designed to teach employees how to produce fresh vegetables and fruit.
And after the celebratory groundbreaking, employees couldn’t wait to dig in. We planted and nurtured a range of edibles that included honeydew melons, squash, cucumbers, onions, peppers, basil, zucchini, chiles, and of course, tomatoes.
Our 2012 growing season is continuing with plots weeded and watered by employees. And thankfully, no hornworms in 2012 (they descended upon the tomatoes in 2011); only a bountiful harvest producing lettuce, herbs, apricots, okra and more.
And it’s looking like there’s a huge vegetable harvest on its way, which means we’ll be enjoying many delicious chile varieties come fall. Mmm…

We’re looking for employees who want to make an impact.
We believe being different is really about being better. The diversity that our employees bring to their jobs is what makes our company what it is today.
Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company is looking for talented, creative professionals who want to work in a fast-paced, diverse and progressive environment. We believe that every employee deserves to be treated fairly, equitably and with respect. Our organization values the diversity of individuals and their ideals, backgrounds and perspectives.
Many Santa Fe-based employees reflect the city’s history and cultural diversity — American Indian, Hispanic and Anglo. Most of the North Carolina-based employees have deep roots in tobacco, from their own family farms to working for other, now gone, tobacco manufacturers. Our trade marketers are literally from all over the country and bring a wide variety of experiences to their jobs.
If there is one thing all SFNTC employees have in common, it’s taking time to break bread together. Simply making the time to enjoy the fruits of our labor, and the company of such amazing and interesting people. In Santa Fe, regular company luncheons feature New Mexican fare, with plenty of red and green chile on the side. While in Oxford, employees enjoy regular pig pickins, the traditional barbecue feast of North Carolina.
We offer a competitive benefits package, challenging work, and an opportunity to grow with our company. Santa Fe Natural Tobacco Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer. If you’re interested in applying, take a look at our openings.
